I loved this session! This family was adorable and so nice. The parents were so nervous going into it which made it’s success all the more sweet. They’ve had family members take their pictures in the past and they were stressful events and only produced mediocre images. So the parents were worried we wouldn’t get good images, worried the kids would misbehave, and worried it would be a waste of money. This was their first paid photo shoot.
I admit, most portrait sessions are challenging with one or two small children. This family had 6 kids under the age of 9! Thankfully all the kids were fabulous. Oftentimes kids behave and perform better for a photographer than parents or grandparents who take pictures, because we have our big official looking cameras which kids are intrigued by and most kids are a little more inclined to follow directions with someone they aren’t familiar with. Also, a good family photographer should have a lot of tricks up their sleeves to get smiles, eye contact, and connections. I’ve done some ridiculously embarrassing sounds and tricks to get smiles from kids. So worth it, though!
